Our parent companies Air France and KLM operate a combined fleet of 26 A330s and 19 A340s. For that reason AFI KLM E&M is a worldwide leader in A340 components support, providing such services to a total of more than 150 airplanes around the world.
The A330 and A340 families share the same design. Based on its extensive experience as operator AFI KLM E&M has led in stretching the maintenance intervals between checks, thus helping our customers to lower their maintenance costs through our full engineering support.
AFI KLM E&M maintains A330s and A340s at three facilities. Heavy maintenance for long-haul aircraft takes place at Orly, and on-line as well as light maintenance at Amsterdam, CDG and Orly. In 2008, we used our experience to carry out four 4C5Y checks and eleven C checks on these two aircraft types.
We also maintain privileged relations with Airbus and related OEMs.

The latest arrival in General Electric's CF6 family, the CF6-80E1 equips A330s. AFIKLM E&M has build up this capability in 2005 becoming the only MRO provider in Europe to provide both comprehensive maintenance and test runs for the CF6-80E1. AFIKLM E&M is now responsible for maintaining 30% of the worldwide fleet powered by the CF6-80E1.
The engine design is very similar to the CF6-80C2 engine model, with which it shares 60% of the parts. Our experience of more than 2,100 shop visits performed on the CF6-80C2 is the strong basis for our CF6-80E1 maintenance support.
With the introduction of this new engine type the availability of used materials and repairs are limited, but our organization is focused on developing new repairs standalone or together with the OEM. In combination with other material cost saving measures, we are able to reduce the overall maintenance cost of your engine.

Our Group has been the launch airline for CFM56-5 engines, as Air France was the very first company to operate A320 aircraft in 1988. Since then, the group's fleet has kept growing, first operating first CFM56-5A engines, then CFM56-5C engines in 1993, when the A340 entered into service, and finally CFM56-5B in 1994 when CFM enhanced the A320 engine.
Being the very first CFM56-5 shop, AFI KLM E&M has gained a deep experience as airline-MRO, that it shares today with numerous customers: AFI KLM E&M supports today the largest CFM56-5 fleet in the world, with around 400 engines operated by a broad range of airlines.
